Three professional and child friendly ski and snowboard schools teach you to ski, whilst having fun at the same time and giving the more advanced skiers tips on how the improve their technique. Your AlpenSchlössl host Hansi is also an experienced ski instructor and will be happy to advise beginners and advanced skiers. He will be happy to put together your own personal ski course package or to give you tips on the best runs and the quaintest huts in the region. The ski region of Snow Space Salzburg is considered to have guaranteed snow. In addition, performance strong snow canons ensure that there are perfect snow conditions right up until spring. Enjoy the impressive scenery of snow-covered trees and peaks during one of the lift rides, on one of the 270 modern lift facilities. Ski amadé always makes an effort to meet your high standards and therefore 90% (684 slope kilometres) have snow canons and therefore are in top condition for you all the time.

Cross-country skiing is the ideal sport at any age and fitness level, it is especially suitable for endurance! The beautiful woods in our region, which look like they have been sprinkled with sugar in the deep winter, give you the feeling that you are in a fairy tale.
Along the total of the 714km expansion of cross-country skiing trails in Ski amadé, you have the perfect opportunity to keep fit and explore the wonderful winter landscape at the same time.

- Loipe Plankenau - partially near the Salzach – 6,2 km (intermediate)
- Loipe Alpendorf - in Oberalpendorf - 4 km long (intermediate)
- Höhenloipe Obergassalm - auf 1.600 m Seehöhe - 3 km long (intermediate)

Tobogganing and Ice Skating
Tobogganing is special, whether you go alone, with friends of with your family. Hire a toboggan and off you go down the mountain. Whether young or old, tobogganing is great fun.
Natural toboggan run Alpendorf, approx. 1,5km long, partially lit, free from cars.
Start: Hotel Gut Berg or Gut Berg Stadl (950m), destination: Oberforsthof alm in Alpendorf (850m).

You can take a taxi transfer (single fare for 8 people approx. € 35,00, varies according to the taxi metre) for an easy way to get up the mountain.
In the centre of St.Johann there is an artificial ice skating rink. There, you can rent some ice-skating shoes. This is open from mid-November to mid-February, from 1.30pm to 4pm and Saturdays also from 7pm to 9pm. Every Saturday there is an ice disco event!

There is nothing nicer then to pack your touring skis and to get underway. Just the thought of conquering a mountain with your own strength, without any help is a feeling of freedom in itself. Once you have got to the top, you can have a break at one of the huts and enjoy the view of the valley below. Afterwards, you can ski down the mountain and know that you achieved everything with willpower alone.

Advent, Christmas and New Year
Experience the impressive Advent time with us in our beautifully decorated Hotel AlpenSchlössl or on one of the many Advent and Christmas markets throughout the region. In the “Christmas tree town“ of St.Johann, you will find magnificently lit Christmas trees from the 1st Advent weekend, which do not only decorate the public places but also numerous shop windows in St.Johann and Alpendorf.

The town park of St.Johann is turned into a cosy Advent village with 30 wooden huts. Besides the specially lit installations and Christmassy building lightings, regionality is a main focus point of the Advent of light. Look in awe at the handicrafts or the local exhibitors and enjoy the culinary specialities from the region. There are many special attractions for children at the Advent of light: A goblin room with tales told by a storyteller, a baking room, post from the angles, a children’s snow mountain, horse-drawn sleigh rides etc.

In the evening we greet our guests with a sparkling wine reception and spoil them with an exclusively Christmassy gourmet set meal. Finally, Santa brings some presents for the adults and the children. Many of our guests end Christmas Eve at midnight mass in the Pongauer cathedral.
The last day of the year is started with a gala dinner of a very special kind – let yourself be surprised. With music, dancing, a good atmosphere and incredible fireworks, we welcome in the New Year.
